The 2012 New York Voiceover Mixer

This is the big one folks.  Last year we had about 540 attendees from around the world and we expect around the same turnout this year.  There will be more of what has made these mixers so popular: networking with talent, agents, casting directors and others.  You can hand out (and receive) hundreds of business cards, make new connections, win some great prizes and get drunk.  What more could you want?  Every year we hear a ton of stories from people who have attended and found new business partners, a new coach, a new client or at least a bunch of new friends.

This year we figured, since we have you all here, we might as well do some good as well and so we are asking for a 10 dollar (cash please) admission fee and the proceeds will go to the Don LaFontaine Voiceover Lab.  This is a great cause and the foundation is incredibly helpful to our industry.

Please note that after a lot of soul searching, we have decided that this will be the last of the New York Mixer series.  This means that this is possibly your last chance to meet up with such a large group of other voiceover professionals and enjoy an event of this magnitude.  While we have teamed up with The Voxy Ladies this year to present this event, this is YOUR mixer.  Please come help us celebrate the resilience on New York City in the wake of the recent storm (no worries, the power is on and all will be back to normal for the event) and join us one last time in raising a glass to voiceover.

Be sure to check the OFFICIAL SITE for general information, RSVP info and guest / raffle list updates added daily.

Voice Talent Productions Takes Over The World

Manifest Destiny.1

We are quite excited.

1. Look it up.

He Comes From The Land Down Under

As part of our ongoing takeover of the entire planet1 Voice Talent Productions is proud to announce the recent acquisition of Australian talent Matt Cowlrick.  Matt has done work for Shell, Blockbuster Video, the Australian Comedy Network and he voices Billy Boogie and Sammy Surfboard in the upcoming Aussie cartoon The Beach Crew.  Hopefully this will quell any rumors that we do not wish to work with the Australians.  I’m not sure how that got started.  We do however maintain a strict policy against Slovenians.2 Speaking of rumors, you may have read in the tabloids that I am dating Anne Hathaway.  While this is true, we ask that you respect our privacy at this time and simply be happy for us.  We are regular people just like you.3

Where was I?  Oh yeah, Matt.  This guy is outrageously talented, as evidenced by his demos below.

When not sounding amazing Matt enjoys wrestling crocodiles, drinking Fosters Lager and referring to the bathroom as a “dunny”, which is really quite charming in a rustic sort of way if you think about it.

1. It’s Manifest Destiny, as fortold in the prophesy.
2. I had a terrible experience last summer in Ljubljana.  I don’t want to talk about it.
3. Only much, much more attractive.

The British Are Coming

In perhaps the most obvious casting decision since I was chosen as the new voice of Dora the Explorer1,  the extraordinary British voice actor Philip Banks has just voiced a series of television and radio spots for the Utah State Fair.  In Utah.  As a result of his most recent stateside success, Philip has converted to Mormonism and will be moving into a bungalow with Donny Osmond in Salt Lake City2.  Check out one of his coronary inducing clips by hitting play on the alluring black box below:

When not making millions for Voice Talent Productions, Mr. Banks enjoys cricket and learning how to properly pronounce “aluminum.”3

1.  Update:  This was recast at the last minute.
2.  I’m kidding, of course.  Philip remains a devout Satanist.
3.  I’m assuming.

We’re Having A Party

Rick PartyWe are pleased to announce the inclusion of the illustrious Rick Party to our fine roster of voice talent.  In addition to his years spent in radio and impressive client list, Rick feels that, “I have finally made it as a voice talent just by being invited to join an organization of such renown as Voice Talent Productions!”1 Plus, we hung out for a bit and I can vouch that he’s a helluva guy.  Check out his bio on our Talent page and listen to him below or on our Demos page.  I’ll wait.

Do you want to hire this guy?  Of course you do.  Give us a ring and we will make it happen for you.

Rick is also known as the driving force behind VoiceOverUniverse.com2 and in his spare time enjoys long walks on the beach and sounding amazing.  He has been keeping busy lately building a giant fireplace mantel to hold this enormous trophy he was recently awarded at the VOICE conference in Los Angeles. Jeez.

1. I may be paraphrasing.
2. Apparently this is some sort of web site.

Get a behind the scenes look at our exciting and glamorous lives and careers.  It will be kind of like The Hills2.  Only less vapid.  And we are better looking.

1.  Actually, you probably shouldn’t be.
